Welcome to the VMC

The VMC needs your help

The VMC is a volunteer organization.  As such, all events are done for the members and public, by the members.  Volunteering to help on one of the events is the best way to get to know people and to help make a good name for yourself, along with making the event a success.  Check the Events section to find upcoming events and then contact the organizer listed on the poster, to offer to help out.

Aside from being one of the entrance requirements, volunteering some time is educational, often good fitness, and a fun way to become more a part of this club that we all enjoy.

WHERE ARE EVENTS HELD

Events are held in several locations.  Please see the event notice/poster to see which venue is being used.   Some of the common venues are:

A RECENT UPDATE FROM ROGER:

Hi all;
This just in from the CPTA Christy Williams Richards. Cheers - Roger

Clarification on this weekend's CMA National/FIM NA Championship:

To ride this weekend’s event, you MUST have a spark arrestor. They are required and mandatory and will be checked at tech inspection. There has been rain, but the woods are still dry. Mountain Motorcycle has a limited supply that fits most bikes.

It is strongly recommended that you have your bike registered, but it will not be checked at tech inspection. As always, the CPTA encourages all it’s members to follow BC laws, but we can’t enforce it. Riders coming from the states should have some form of registration or proof of ownership to cross the border (those guys can enforce things).

You need a CMA license if you are a Canadian rider. Good news if you don’t have one… as of September 1st, CMA license fee is pro rated to $30 for the remainder of 2018.

MEMBER FUNDED SOCIETY VOTE - ADOPTING THE NEW BC Societies Act

From the VMC executive:

We had previously advised of a Special Resolution with respect to the BC Societies Act, and registering as a “Member Funded Society”. Those members who attended the July meeting decided that a legal review was required before we made a decision. To this end, we obtained the opinion of honorary club member Chris Siver, LLB, who reviewed the matter and made recommendation that the club register as a member-funded society, and update our bylaws to reflect this change.
At our August meeting, a motion was made by Meaghan Symes to register the VMC with the BC Societies Act as a member-funded society. This was seconded by Roger Boothroyd. We will vote on this matter at our upcoming September 18th meeting. Please plan on attending to provide your say on this important topic.

MANAGED FOREST

To all members:-
Discussion took place at the May general meeting about changing the description of section 119 to a "Managed Forest." The Executive have been working on this for some time and the main advantage of this change would be to lower our taxes. However, the cost for this change is high but could be paid for in a few years with tax savings.
The Executive are requesting the attendance of as many members possible at the June 19th meeting to vote on this change.

FORUM DISCUSSION IS HERE

Please note that there is now full time logging at  Boyd's Pit 7 days a week, therefore riding is strongly discouraged.

There were some near misses at Boyd's Pit recently and the VMC is being blamed.  Please talk to your friends and ask them not to ride there as it is private property and riding is only by permit during events.  The VMC is working toward obtaining a riding permit for this area but until this time, please

DO NOT RIDE THERE.

About the VMC

Click for LOCATION AND MAP

Since its beginning, the Victoria Motorcycle Club has promoted the sport of motorcycling of all types and for all ages.  As a club, we believe that riding is one of the few things left that is family oriented, healthy, enjoyable, and isn't prohibitively expensive.

As a mode of transportation, motorcycling has several advantages over automobiles such as fuel efficiency resulting in a lower carbon footprint and the simple fact that a motorcycle is easier to park than a car.

For many years, the VMC has been a steward of the motorcycle club property.  Preservation of green space on Vancouver Island is becoming a tough challenge as urban sprawl encroaches on natural areas.  The VMC has maintained the 175 acre plot in virtually the same natural state as it was purchased with minimal trail clearing, in fact much less than is required to create a park or campsite.

At present, the VMC is actively working to develop more riding areas and needs your support to make this happen.

Register with this website to support the sport of motorcycling.  Click FAQ in the left menu and select the "Registration" link.  To join the VMC, select "Membership Form" from the Main Menu.Motorcycle Stand
