Hare Scramble In Combs - 2009/05/26 21:47
Hey all

There is going to be a great Hare Scramble in Coombs this weekend May 31-2009.
This track is completely unique to the Island as there are virtually no rocks or roots in this area. It is mostly sand and gravel. The guys putting on the event have cut some of the best single track you will find anywhere. The trails tend to be nice and wide making passing riders stress free.

Instructions to the area are as follows.
Stay on the port Alberni highway and travel just passed Coombs in the direction of Port Alberni. Keep your eye on the right hand side of the highway and look for the signs and arrows to the right about 1-2 km beyond Combs.

Sign up is between 9:00 and 10:00
Riders meeting is at 10:30

If you have any questions give Al Wilson a Call @ 250-951-9252

Course was a blast! Fun trails with lots of loam , berms , very little earth eggs , some snakes but nothing major. Loose hills were the only nastys . Other than that it was all like a 20k loop of geritol trail. Definately going to ride up there again ..

These guys deserve the support in their goal of establishing that peice of crown land (1400 acres ), into an off road riding area.

$10 was too cheap for an entry fee , and the trail needs more arrows - especially at the junctions.... Check out the pnwma gudlines for arrowing =]

Ya , for a first time event it was a blast. Jarret May was in a whole differant league, he won by about 20 minutes clear of second.
