New to VMC + Trials (also ride enduro + street) - 2011/05/16 12:54
Hello All,
I am new to trials but not new to bikes, I have owned and ridden an 1986 Honda XL250R since 2001 and in the last 3 years have owned a couple CBR600 F2s and a CBR600 F4i. I have just sold my nicest sport bike ('02 red/black CBR 600 F4i) so that I can get into trials. But I still ride a 1991 CBR F2 daily. I recently got a couple of project bikes, an '85 XR250R and a dirt only '86 XL250R to thrash on the trails.
I got $3500 for my CBR and spent $700 on a crappy dodge cargo van (to carry the trials bike and dirtbikes I have). I bought a 2004 Sherco 290 with the rest of my F4i money. Trials is even better than I thought it would be (and I had HIGH expextations) and I have only had one good ride on it
My name is Ben, I am 6ft about 195lbs and 28yrs old. If anyone has any Sherco expertise or just trials newbie advice that would be great! (I am also new to 2strokes, the sherco is my first)
I plan to ride trials at least once a week with a lot of street rides and some enduro trail rides this summer.
If there are any other trials newbies who want to ride/learn together regularly let me know.
PS. I am not a VMC member....... Yet

Welcome Ben, Hopefully we can get you into the club soon, You will find there are lots of guys you could hook up with for tips etc. Membership forms are on the left hand tool bar of our website, and require a little volunteer work before we vote on your membership. look on our calender and see if there is a commitee that could use a hand. Also this weekend Dave Fair is hosting a 2 day event at the Clubs property on Happy Valley Road, you could reach him at 250-380-7137 and see if he could use a hand or just come out and check it out and meet some members. I actually made it into the club as a new member at the last meeting (may 17th) .... woohooo !!
Are you sure that Dave Fair is doing an event this weekend at the club... I thought he was going to summerland for a trial over the long weekend. Maybe you were refering to the PNTA event (which I plan on attending) the weekend after may long?
I hope to ride in the PNTA (I'm told junior class would be appropriate for a newbie) but I need to practice a bunch before I embarrass myself tooo badly
I am busy Saturday but I hope to be out practicing both Sunday and Monday (if I am not too sore after riding Sunday)... hope to see you there.
