VANCOUVER ISLAND HARE SCRAMBLE SERIES IS TRAVELLING TO JORDAN RIVER,BC THIS WEEKEND

ACTION Motorcycles Presents: The TANSKY TITAN Hare Scrambles
Following the very successful PNWMA format and using the transponder system, racers will navigate the new course through the rain forest of
west coast Vancouver Island, BC. The ground is tacky, but the roots are slick, oh what tire should I use?
Well, whatever the tire choice ends up being, the riders will be worked hard at this, the first ever, Tansky TITAN race.
Just a little info, "Tansky" is the name of the old logging road main line that branched out into the hills above Jordan River, BC. the trees up here are huge, but the stumps that remain from the turn of the century "spring-board" logging operations are even BIGGER ! The whole piece of public property (1000 Ha) is covered in second and third growth forest and criss-crossed with streams and brooks leading down from picturesque marshes. "Tansky Main-Line" itself, had almost disappeared and grown over when the Victoria Motor-Cycle club re-discovered it. The rain forest grows very quickly out here and it only takes a few years of inactivity for the foliage to take over. The club has spent many hours reclaiming this road network from the bush and adding new trails as they went.  The BC Off-Road Motorcycle association and the National Trails Coalition both got involved in securing partial funding for the build-up and signage of the area.
The VIHSS hare scramble series has been successfully run in three other island locations thus far but in perhaps, less challenging conditions, with shorter loops. This years' TITAN promises 30 km loops for the A-riders and 20 km for the B's. More than enough challenge and a real test of endurance. If the A-riders are up to it, they stand the chance of doing 90 + kms out here, and believe me, that is a noteworthy feat. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who are making this event possible. A special thanks goes out to "JOLLY-ROGER-RANCH" Productions for filming the event.  The race highlights will be aired on the net at VIMEO.com and DIRTBIKER.CA  .
