I have been recreational trail riding for years around the Shawnigan area and, as you, am frustrated with loss of riding area. I'm not a member but I am very interested in the new area you have attained in the Jordan area athough it is a drive for me. My son has been riding his CRF 70 for a couple of years now and I think he and I would be keen on getting involved. Can you tell me whether or not there are any trails/events that somone of his skill level (beginner/novice) could ride. I have a quad with a trailer if that helps although I prefer a two wheeler and am willing to come out to help.

Welcome.
You and your son are always welcome. We meet at the Sooke Castle at 9am Sundays for breakfast, then leave around 10am for JR.
Right now there is about 8-12km of old skid roads that have been cleaned of old winter blow-down. Until we can build the links to create loops, all riding is out & back. It is on old skid roads with some rocks and crossings. Totally do-able by a beginner/novice.
There is also many miles of open logging roads in the general area for riding if you want to explore.
As to events, once we get a loop network built, the plan is to hold enduro events and some fun family events - poker runs, etc. We will make sure that there is a novice/junior capable circuit so new people can come out and enjoy the sport.
