I can’t believe the lack of leadership and foresight in the VMC over the past 5 years.
We now find ourselves as basically a trails club.
There is no land for legal riding or racing on any more.
The events that have been continuously run for over fifty years are either not going to be held this year or be basically a trails event on the club property.
I ask the new leadership this. What is the plan going forward !!!! Do we have a plan!!!!
This is the most perilous issue facing the club in the past 25 years !!!
I love the trails side of the club, but it is just one part of the club and I fear that the current leadership does not have a plan that is not centered on the expansion of the trails side of the club and the club property.
It is time to put aside the trails vs offroad debate and understand that this is about respecting the vision and history that the founders of this club understood.
The current leadership will be remembered in one of two ways.
1. You all will be remembered as the leadership that allowed the death of the Victoria Motorcycle Club on their watch.
2. Or you can be the group that takes the club back from the brink and restores it to its once proud status where all type of riders and riding are embraced.
This post is not designed to be a slap in the face of the new leadership or of past leaders. It is design to start the debate on how we save this club and restore it to its once proud status.
In closing I am prepared to assist and donate my time in any way possible to see this happen.

I have a number of thoughts on this subject and what follows is nothing other then one person perspective.
Each discipline of riding should have one seat on the executive and be advocates of their discipline of riding. In addition there should be special chairs on the board that are the voice of the club on specific issues and causes that are important to the survival of the club.
Examples would be
a. Trails Committee Chair b. Club Historical and vintage bike Committee Chair c. Enduro Committee Chair d. Land Access & Insurance Chair e. Street bike Committee Chair f. Public Events and Communications Committee Chair
Each committee chair would pick 3 non elected club members to help for the up coming year and would meet outside of regular meeting times.
Many of the senior members have time to work on vintage rides and club history events and this format would allow many of them much more involvement in the club.
Each committee would be involved and invested in their specific discipline and encouraged to promote the growth of their segment of the club.
The Land Access committee would do nothing other then deal with, and lobby for land access and affordable insurance.
Public Events and communications would be handled by one group to make sure the events are marketed properly and to work towards Island wide associations and racing series with other clubs up and down the Island.
I would also like to see the monthly meeting formats reviewed and reinvented. The meetings should be about committee reports and up coming events. The current format seems to be bogged down in procedure that prevents a health interaction with the members.
These are just a few ideas that I have heard and agree with.
I encourage others to voice their opinions as well, only through the free exchange of ideas can we bring about change.

Well that all seems reasonable enough. Have you brought up these ideas in the monthly meeting? I realize it's format may not be appealing, but I expect that's where all this will have to start.
Has there ever been a survey of the membership? It may eventually be a consideration, since they get input from those who generally choose not to.
