Its nice to see some lively discussion on the forum,it seems that most of the concerns have answered themselves.The clubs exec. does embrace all aspects of motorcycling,trials has done well in the last couple of years because people have actively volunteered.The biggest problem with xc has been the access to land issue,there are currently a few people who are busy pursuing this [ Peter, ken],and significant headway has been made.Now we need some volunteers to help out with the trail clearing,the sooner that happens,the sooner we will have xc events, so i would like to encourage people to attend the club meetings and put there hand in the air when we ask for volunteers to help clearing,or comitees to put on these events.You can also contact Ken at Kenco motorcycles [642-3924] and help make your xc series a success. See you at the meeting.Ben

Thanks Peter.Its great that you are standing up to take on the challenge.I can help you in any way.The boys that have seats on their bikes really need a place to ridePlease call me.You can get my # from Ken or i'll try to meet up with you on Sunday.The one thing that people need to realize is that it is going to take money to make this happen.You can't ride for free anymore.Pits are now off limits as well as the bush now.We need all riders to stand up and be counted and to put their money where their mouth is.[so to speak].The VMC had a chance about 5 yrs ago to secure a piece off Timber West.I believe the fellows name was Bevan who started talking to Timber West.Anyway it was a no go because of money.So here we are NO PLACE TO RIDE because it was going to cost money.Well its still going to cost money.Lets get together on this and get going.Thanks.Derek

How are we going to get orginized?? Lets see some trail cleaning schedules posted or a sign up for work party's. Also we need to know where to go and work. So how about directions or a map to the new area.
Also is this area actually secured? I spent a lot of time and effort last year to find out the club had failed to secure confirmed access to Boyd's Pit.

I don't believe the area is secured.It is a piece of crown land about 1km up Forebay rd.I was going to go out this weekend myself tomake a little track area for mx or kids.Ken and Pete went out to scout out trails.It is a perfect area to go.18kms from Sooke.If you are into trail riding phone Ken or Pete and go out next weekend.I'll be going out next weekend for sure to start to carve out a small loop under the power lines.It will be a good spot for vintage,new mx and kids to ride.I understand your frustration read my last post carefully and you will notice i to am frustrated.Email @ pourmann@shaw.ca if you want to talk or come out.Thanks.Derek

There is a possibility for a natural outdoor mx site, just before jordan river. I had found this spot and brought this up at the last vmc meeting. stating that Peter had offered to help with the paper work, if there was interest. please call me if you are interested 250 642 3924. I have many ideas on this, would like to share with all interested. Am tied up with developing xcountry stuff at other area, and will be for some time to come, as vmc help has been marginal.
